Sharing recent successes from the Asan team Happy Menstrual Health Month! At Asan, we celebrate periods every day -- but in the month of May, activists, brands and NGOs from across the world join forces to spread awareness and smash taboos around periods. Much love, Team Asan Asan expands our menstrual health programme toa total of 60 villages in Kanakpura, Karnataka We're thrilled to share that our Asan cup distribution will cover a total of 60 villages in Kanakapura by the end of this year! Delivered in partnership with the Belaku Trust, this is the world's largest menstrual cup adoption programme, enabling nearly 15,000 women and girls to participate in essential daily activities like going to school and work on theirperiod. This programme saves households over₹50,000 and has averted over 200 tonnes of landfill waste from plastic sanitary pads. Asan joins activists in the UK to demand an end to period poverty We spent 28th May, Menstrual Health Day at the Period Parade in London along with inspiringactivists and organisations who are smashing period taboos. The parade marched to Downing Street (home of the Prime Minister) to deliver stories of period struggles from young girls across the UK. Your end-of-year update about what we're up to. Dear supporters, What a whirlwind2022 has been! From being awarded our US patent to converting 36 villages to using the Asan cup, this year has been an incredible rollercoaster for the Asan team. The highlight, post-pandemic, has been all the wonderfulface-to-face interactions we've had. We've loved meeting customers at events and pitching to investors at demo days. The most rewarding bit hasbeen conducting our rural education programs in person, and seeing firsthand the impact that the Asan cup is having on women and girls' lives. This means we now have protection for our design across the US, UK, Europe and India. Patenting our design was important to us to maintain the authenticity and uniqueness of our brand - so that you can trust that every cup is manufactured by Asan to the highest quality standards. Asan distributes 1000 cups to school girls in Lucknow Asan partnered with the wonderful NGO Pad and Prejudice to provide access to safe period care amongst adolescent girls in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. This October, our Head of Impact, Mamta, visited Lucknow and spent time understanding how the Asan cup has impacted the lives of young girls, enabling them to go to school and work during their periods. Like in the words of Zubaida, "The Asan cup is so comfortable, it's magical!It makes going to work so easy and I recommend it to all my friends." Asan has been selected by Virgin as one of 12 social impact startups to watch Following a competitive pitch process, Asan was selected by Richard Branson's organisation Virgin Startup to be part of the 2022 Collective Impact Cohort. Asan's founder, Ira Guha, represented Asan in a six-week intensive course which is designed to give social enterprises the tools to raise funds. This has been a very rewarding opportunity and will help scale our work to eradicate period poverty. The Asan team hosts pop-ups across London and Bangalore The Asan team has had a busy few months hosting various pop-ups in both London and Bangalore. We absolutely love hosting pop-ups as it gives us a chance to meet and interact withour customers and other sustainable brands. Some interesting reads...
